Tap Into Your Intuition

This past week I ventured back into acupuncture treatment with a new healer.  Along with her Eastern medical training, she makes use of intuitive practices.  I was blown away when she sprayed me with “Holding” and “Change” aerosols, both energies I am drawn to.  I was curious about her declaration at one point that my “body was done.”  She also intuitively told me when I would need to return.

The more cynical side of my nature wanted to attribute it all to coincidence or superstition.  But after twenty years of practicing psychotherapy, I am acutely aware that what I do to heal others comes from a combination of deep listening, training, experience, and intuition.  When I get an intuitive hit while a client is sharing with me, I attend to that hit and generally share it back with the client for them to make sense of.  Generally they can.

It’s a lot harder to listen to intuitive thoughts when you don’t like the answer.  But, I’ve noticed when I don’t listen, it feels as if I’ve hit my head against the wall.  My father, a retired Methodist pastor, used to tell me, “You’ll know what your spiritual calling is when the doors open.  When they shut, you are not meant to go through them.”

I’ve had a lot of doors shut on me over the span of my lifetime.  Some I try to force open.  But it appears that once I give into a door shutting, another opens up as long as I am open to seeing it.

There are many toxic elements charging our systems at present:  Global pandemic, Global warming, the possibility of war with Russia, inflation, isolation and closures, famine and disease, numerous deaths.  When I work with a client overcome with anxiety and or depression I’ve learned it’s critical to not only attend to their minds and psyche’s, but to attend to their bodies, and spirituality as well.

There are many ways to tap into your intuition:  Meditation, music, poetry, art, nature, religion, yoga, Quigong, martial arts, massage, acupuncture, exercise, silence.  Wherever you find it, tap into its flow and listen.  It will wash away the toxins and point you in the right direction to heal.
